The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has decided to enter a challenge in the European zone for the Davis Cup this year. SOME FORECASTS. PARIS, February 2. India and New Zealand at the last minute entered, the latter for the first time. The United States is expected to win comfortably in the American zone. (Received February 3, at 1.30 p.m.) The Lawn Tennis Federation has cabled the team in Australia to return at the earliest possible opportunity, in view of the suggested possibility of their developing staleness. Critics, referring to Borotra’s and Brugnon’s tour, point out that, apart from when aboard ship, neither has had a week’s rest from tennis since France won the Davis Cup. If they become stale a heavy burden would fall on Lncoste and Cochet. The former, owing to business calls, is having to reduce time devoted to championship tennis. Cochet is taking things easily during the winter. AMATEUR ATHLETICS CYCLING CLUB AFFILIATED. Advice has been received by the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that the council of that body has granted the affiliation of the Otago Amateur Cycling Club.
