A woman, aged fifty-two, and another, aged thirty-nine, who refused to give their names, were charged at Dublin with conspiring seditiously to libel Mr M'Neill (the Governor-General) and Mr Kenney (Minister of Justice), also with conspiring to incite people to murder Mr M'Neill or others. Counsel stated that the accused were previously charged with illegal hill posting. Jn the present ease they were charged with pasting up a document recounting how the “ Invincibles ” executed two English officials in 18S2. Another referred to the Phoenix Park murders, and set forth that English officials had more right in Ireland in than they had in 1928. Irishmen :n 1882 were manly enough to avenge the massacres of Belmullet and Ballina. One of the M'Ncills had been brought over to do Mr W. E. Forster’s and Lord Cavendish’s work. The document reads: “ Countrymen, when will you end the reign of British officialdom in Ireland? Who will avenge the murders of Mountjoy and Ballyseedy? ” A third poster referred to the treatment of the Mountjoy prisoners. Evidence was given that the accused were seen posting up the notices. They were committed for trial, one remarking that the judge was wasting his time, and added: “What wo did before we will do again. We will kick everything British from the country.” They were removed amid a demonstration by women supporters.—A. and N.Z. and ‘Sun’ Cable.-.
