WELLINGTON WOOL SALES
ADVANCES IN MANY CLASSES. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 12. The third Wellington wool sale of the season commenced last night. The total offered at this series was 27,000 bales. The wool was bright and attractive, and light in condition. Bidding was keen and well sustained, and all sections of the trade appeared desirous of getting parcels. Cross-bred wool was in good demand, and there was a distinct recovery in values. The December prices were less than those of November, and last night the prices for fleece wool and for lambs’ wool were equal to those ruling in November, and in some cases were a shade above. There was very keen competition today, all sections of buyers operating. Merino was from par to slightly easier compared with the December sales; lambs, 2d to 3d up. Half-breds of all grades advanced from Id to l|d; good cross-breds rose l|d to 2d; average and inferior cross-bred rose Id to ltd.
