At tho Manawatu tourpey, in the men’s singles championships yesterday afternoon, C. E. Malfroy (Wellington) beat A. C. Steadman (Auckland), 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. In the semi-finals in the morning Stedman defeated E. L. Bartleet, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, and Malfroy, easily defeated Barkmau (Wanganui), 6-1, 6-2. In the ladies’ singles semi-final Miss D. Knight (Auckland) beat Miss Myers (Wanganui), 8-6, 4-6, 7-5. Other semi-finals between Miss D. Nicholls (Wellington) and Miss Caloa (Wanganui) will he played to-morrow. In the men’s doubles championships Malfroy and Lampe -defeated Bartleet and Griffiths, 6-2, 9-3. In the final of the ladies’ handicap singles Miss Powdrell. Wanganui (10) beat Mrs Caldwell, Feilding (10), 50-35.
