CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE

NOVEMBER FRIGES BEATEN i [L’i-jk United I’kkss Association.] CTIIIIST-JHUKCTI, January G. The nuol sale was resumed this morning. The buoyant tone of the preceding night was fully maintained. Three-quarter-bred wool, as a mutter ol tact, hardened -perceptibly on the earlier offerings. Super, half-bred sold at the best ol the preceding night’s rates, with merino meeting with brisker inquiry. Medium hall-bred, on the other hand, appeared to sell somewhat unevenly, but up to the preceding night’s values. Compared with the last sale at Christchurch in .November three-quar-tcr-bred may be described as from Id to ltd better. Fine hall-bred was up to Id better, while medium quality sorts showed a firming ol Id to Id. Merino approximated a good Id -advance. Cross-bred was up to Id better than m November, but pieces ol ail classes did no more than .maintain previous prices. However, at tho earlier sale pieces sold out ol proportion to fleece. Competition appeared to be much more widespread than at the preceding sale. Australian buyers participated to some extent tor medium halfbred wools, and there was improved activity by Bradford operators, in the whole catalogue ol 27,0(11) bijles, less than 11 per cent, was passed at auction. The top price of the sale was 2GJd for" twelve bales of half-brcds. Four bales of Corricdalc sold at 26d and twelve at 2o]d. Four bales of Bullock Creek Corricdalc made 2Gd, and the pieces 21 ]d. A few three-quarter-bred lots made good prices, one of eight bales selling at 22]d, a second at 22d, and another at 21]d; and an eight-bale lot of cross-bred sold at 2BJd.
