TO-DAY'S CASH PRICES The guide gives to-day’s cash prices in the city shops. Eggs are Is 8d and Is 9d dozen. ~ Grocery prices are unaltered. Bacon is Is 2d and Is 3d lb, cheese, Is (mild), Is 3d (tasty), and butter —factory, Is 9d lb; farmers’, Is 3d lb; whey, 1s Id lb. Meat prices remain firm:—Lamb, 9s quarter; mutton, 2d to 7|d lb; beef, 3d to lid. Fish is scarce, and prices for the fish offering are:—Groper, Is lb; kingfish, Is lb; ling, 6d lb; blue cod. Is lb; smoked blue cod, Is 3d lb; smoked red cod (large), 6d to Is. Fruit prices are:—Pears (Winter Coles), 8d lb; bananas, 8 for Is; Californian grapes, 2s lb; Canadian apples, 5 for Is; Canadian Jonathans, 8d lb; strawberries, 2s 6d pottle; cherries, 2s 6d lb; Californian lemons, 3d each; Australian lemons, 5 for Is.; Valencia oranges, 3 for 1s and Is 3d; pineapples, Is 6d to 2s 6d. Vegetable prices are:—Potatoes, 81b for Is; carrots, 61b for Is; cabbages, 4d and 6d each; cauliflowsrs, Is 6d to 2s; rhubarb, 4d lb; Island tomatoes, Is 3d lb; new potatoes, 4d lb; lettuce, 3d, 4d, and 6d; asparagus, Is bunch; Peninsula potatoes, Is lb; cucumbers, 1s 3d and Is 6d each; outside cucumbers, 6d and Bdeach; green peas, 6d lb; local hothouse tomatoes, 2s 6d lb.
