BENEFIT CONCERT

A committee was recently appointed to raise funds for the widow and children of the late Fireman Piper, who avo left in straitened circumstances owing to tho protracted illness of the late Mr Piper, and it has been decided to hold a benefit concert in His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow evening, when a most interesting programme will bo presented. Tho programme will open with the xylophone solo, ‘ Sprook’s Dance,.’ by Bandsman Andrews, of the Kaikorai Band, and will be followed by vocal solos by Miss Molly Vickers, Miss A. Mathicson, and Miss Doris M‘Curdy, Messrs J. B. Macpherson, Walter Mitchell, and W. G. Hillikcr. Recitations will bo presented by Miss Madge Vates, the Commercial Travellers’. Club will render part_ songs in each part, and tho Kaikorai Band will also play the selection ‘ Rose Mario.’ Major F. FI. Dampen will be hoard in some of Ins most ; popular items, and Mr Wilson Brown will also” present a humorous sketch. There will bo a spectacular ballet by the Otago School of Dancing, and an exhibition of Highland dancing by Miss Beulah King. Mr L. James will act as accompanist. Apart from the worthy object, the public will thus be provided with a most excellent programme. and it is hoped that a bumper house will be present to aid this worthy object.
