THE ROWLEY CASE
TAKING OF THE EVIDENCE
THE DEFENDANTS PRESENT
[Pen United Press Association.]
CHRISTCHURCH, November 14
In a letter to tho 1 Press ’ concerning tho Rowley disqualification ease, Air George Gould (chairman of tho Canterbury Jockey Club) says: “'With one unimportant exception tho whole of the evidence was taken in the presence of the whole of the defendants, and that one exception in the presence of the owner. The whole of tho evidence was taken down word for word by shorthand and afterwards typewritten, and the defendants had the fullest opportunity of reading, explaining, or refuting it. At the meeting of the District Committee tho presence of a steward on November 7 who had been absent on November 5 in no way prejudiced tho ease of the defendants, as the hearing on the 7th was opened by tho reading of the whole of the evidence taken on the sth.’’
