ETHOS FOR OCTOBER
IMPROVEMENT IN EXPORTS,
(British Official News.) Prcw Association—By Wireless—Copyright
RUGBY, November 11, An improvement in British overseas trade for October is recorded in the Board of Trade returns issued to-day. The exports for the month totalled £61,000,000, being an advance of £500,000 compared with September, while the imports amounted to £105,000,000, being an increase of £3,000,000 compared with September. A comparison of the first 10 months of the present year with the period of 1926 shows that the increase in exports during that period is about L'SO.o'XfiOOO. Though the increase during October was not great, the last three or four months have actually been responsible for the greater part of thq increase of the 10 months, thus showing: that the export trade of the country has received an extraordinary impetus in a short time. Coal lias almost reached the level of 1925, and iron and steel manufactures are actually £1,000,000 above those of 1925.. . The volume of exports of machinery, too, is almost equivalent to two years ago. The imports for the first 10 months of this rear, however, declined nearly £10,000,000 on 1926 and over £67,000,000 on 1925.
