Major H. S. N. Robinson, general secretary of the. Melanesian Mission, left Dunedin this morning for Palmerston and the north. Mi' E. J. Denny has gone to Wellington to bo at the first wool sales on Monday. Mr Andrew Wilson, of Southland, passed through Dunedin this morning on his way to Wellington. M.- Frank Williams lolt lor .Wellington this morning. Mr James Hogg started off by the II a.in. train to-day for a business tour of the north. Mr T. Robertson was a passenger for Wellington by the through express to-day.
Mr' John Hope could not get a passage from Sydney by the Tahiti, hut caino across in the Maheno and got home last night, quite set np in health. He was having a swim not far from the ferry disaster when the tragedy occurred. Mr W. B. Lambert, who has been for two years manager of Selmeideman and Sons, Dunedin, has now joined the staff of Messrs Reddells, Ltd. Recent arrivals to the Grand Hotel include Mr C. Sassela (Melbourne), Messrs T. M’lndoe, J. AFlndoc, W. MTndoe, and C. G. Dandy (Sydney), Messrs A. D. Seabrook and R. G. Leyland (Auckland), Messrs Chas. Topping, 11. A. Lock, Walter Hill, D. W. Bay, W. E. Franklin, D. L. M’Donald, and L. Ashcroft Edwards. A London cablegram states that Jjjrd Jellicoo was granted the freedom of Harrogate.
