The- weather was dull, and a keen easterly wind made the conditions unpleasant at Riccarton for the third day of the New Zealand Cup Meeting. The rain the previous night made the course a little slower than on Monday, and

the going and big fields puzzled the backers, lour outsiders prevailing during the afternoon. This seriously interfered with the totalisator turnover, which was £41,034, a decrease of £2,004 on the corresponding day’s investments of last year. The Canterbury Cup was only an easy canter, for Limerick, who was given; a good reception on returning to the scales. The good thing for the Oaks, Dorec, was well beaten by Wild Pigeon, the moving in start helping both the winner and Scrambler to get away. A large number of the North Island horses will return before Saturday, and the fields are likely to bo smaller. It is reported that R. S. Bagby and A. Parker’s appeals will bo heard by the District Committee on Friday evening. a # * * Projector was withdrawn from the Port Cooper Hurdles, leaving a field of six, and Kaikahu was sent out a better favorite than Red Fuchsia (All Red—Nodra, ridden by A.
