EMPIRE Dunedin theatregoers will have their final opportunity of bidding farewell to Miss, New Zealand, 1027 (Miss Dale Austen), at the Empire Theatre tonight. This will bo Miss Austen s final appearance here before she leaves tor Hollywood to fill her screen contract. The talented young lady gives several sketches on the stage, and each patron will receive as a souvenir an autographed portrait of Miss Austen. The picture programme is headed by Colleen Moore in ‘Orchids and Ermine,’ which tells of the adventures of . a telephone operator in a large New York Hotel who falls in love with a millionaire. Miss Moore has the role of “Pink” Watson, with whom Richard Tabor, an extremely shy but very rich young man, falls in love. Owing to unforeseen circumstances they are both imprisoned, and their romance is almost shattered, but in the end everything is settled in a satisfactory manner. OCTAGON Full of exciting incidents and gm - - geous settings, ‘ Bardelys the Magnificent ’ will bo screened finally at the Octagon Theatre to-night. The story was written by that master ot fiction, Rafael Sabitim. In the title role John Gilbert makes his supremo contribution. Bardelys was a Robin Hood in freedom of spirit and a Lothario in the art of love; in him the magic spirit ol chivalry, gallantry, and virile manhood was personified. His eager sword would dart and flash on the slightest pretest, while his personal magnetism fascinated both men and women. No tie on earth could hold him until a woman’s love found a bond stronger than steel. That woman was Lady Roxalanne, who was known as the coldest and mod, beautiful woman in France. EVERYBODY'S Bert Ly.tell and Billie .Dove are the leading players in ‘ The Lone Wolf Returns,’ which will be finally screened at Everybody's Theatre to-night. _ It is an exciting picture from beginning to • end, and figures the famous character of ‘The Lone Wolf.' ‘Beware of Widows,’ starring Laura La Plante, is on the same programme, and is a highly entertaining comedy. ‘Love’s Greatest Mistake’ will head the bill for to-morrow, and in this attractive film Evelyn Brent and William Powell are co-starred. In ‘ The Substitute Wife ’ Jane Novak appears, and it is said to be the best vehicle of her career. ' * QUEEN'S The .delightful comedy with a mixture of Irish and Jewish wit, 1 ’Frisco Sally Levy,’ will be finally shown at the Queen’s Theatre to-night. Sally O’Neill, piquant heroine of ‘Mike’ and other screen plays, is in the leading role, and she is supported by a notable east, including Roy D’Arey, Charles Delaney, Kuto Price, and Tenon Holtz. ‘All Aboard’ is the attraction billed for to-morrow, ami, with Johnny Hines and Edna Murray in the loading roles, it should provide excellent entertainment. Johnny Hines has associated with him an exceptional array of Innmakers to keep the comedy action goingPLAZA AND GRAND The three-featured bill at the Plaza and Grand Theatres will be, finally shown this evening. ‘Too Many Crooks,’ which takes first place o*i the programme, is a delightful farce, and stars Mildred Davis, Lloyd Hughes, and George Bancroft. ‘ Lure ot the Wild,’ starring the beautiful Jane Novak, is a stirring drama. The serial picture, ‘ The Riddle Rider,’ is also on the same Mil. KING EDWARD Colleen Moore, appearing at the King Edward Theatre in ‘ Orchids and Ermines,’ is supported hy a band of talented players. 1 Beware of Widows ’ ' is also showing, and in this film Laura La Plante is bewitching as the girl without a husband. There are two other couples in the picture seeking marriage, and many original xnix-ups occur. These two features will be finally shown at this theatre to-night.
