YACHT AND MOTOR BOAT ASSOCIATION

GLASS COLORS DISCUSSED A meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held last night, when there wore present—Mr J. T. Raul (president), Messrs G. A. Bewley, T. Anderson, F. Goodwin, T. Brooks, F. Boswell, H. Camp, A. I). Asher, W. U. Martin, and E. T. Holler. The Secretary of the North-cast Harbor Club wrote nominating the Takapuna boats Betty and Colleen lor the trials. The Macandrcw’s Bay Regatta Committee applied for .permission to conduct a championship race for speed boats at its regatta.—Granted. An application was received from the Broad Bay Club for permission to hold an outboard motor boat championship in connection with the annual regatta. —Granted. The Canterbury Yachting Association wrote that the Stewart, Island Yachting Club had accepted the association’s offer to hold the Sanders Cup contest at Stewart Island. On behalf of Mi; B. S. Irwin, Mr C. M. French nominated the 1-1-footer Kia, Ora for tho Sanders Cup trials. Tho Secretary of tho Broad Bay Boating Club advised tin; association that tho race for the Oliphant Cup race would he held on January T. Information was received that the new Rona typo boat which was being built at Ravcnsbourno was ready for the measurers.—lt was decided that Messrs H. Camp and C. Smith measure the boat the following evening. A discussion arose on the question of class colors at the various regattas. Mr Bewley contended that the various regatta committees should adopt a standard color for cadi class. At the present time each regatta had a different color for the same class. This had led to some boat owners not flying their class colors. Air Asher pointed out that tho judges were to.blame, as they should have been disqualified. Tlio Chairman said that if a boat were disqualified the association would have to uphold the action of tho judges.— It was decided that each club he ashed to appoint three delegates to attend a conference and discuss the matter and any other questions concerning regatta programmes.
