SMUGGLED ARMS
DISCOVERED ON CARGO SHIP INTENDED FOR CHINA. Press Association—By Telegraph -Copyright LONDON, November S. (Received November 9, at 1.30 a.m.) A remarkable story of smuggling is narrated in the ‘Daily Express.’ The captain of tho steamship Glencole, carrying a crew of -17 Chinese, sailing between Antwerp, London, Hongkong, and Shanghai with general cargo, received a note from a stranger just as lie was leaving Antwerp, saying that 250 automatics and 5,000 rounds of ammunition were hidden in the ship. A secret search by tho officers revealed that tho information was correct. Arms and ammunition in small packets were found hidden in the oil tanks. The officers decided to throw tho arms and ammunition overboard. They reported the matter to tho police in London. It was undoubtedly intended to take the ammunition to China.
