SIR ROY’S GOOD PASSAGE

,At tbo burner Ark Royal and Vesncrus gave a good deal of trouble, the former making the field unsettled. However, when the tapes rose Ark Royal went away woli. Royal Game showed out from Ark Royal, but the Dunedin-owned horse soon "went to the front, followed by Ophir and Royal Game. Black Duke got all the worse of the start, and was a long way back with four furlongs covered. Royal Game again forged to tho front. Cornstalk followed him half a length back, and than came Ark Royal. Battlement, Ophir, Assurance, Yoma, and Vcsperus. On the back stretch Sir Roy found a good passage along the rails, and he ran up behind the three leaders, Battlement lying fifth. Five furlongs from home Ark Royal and Royal Game shook Cornstalk off. and they wore fighting for first position. Their tactics looked as if they would spoil their chances. With another two furlongs gone Ark Royal was still in the lead, having half a length’s advantage over Royal Game. Both David Garrick (on the outer) and Fresco commencdd to show up half a mile from home. At tho false rail Ark Royal and Royal Game were still battling hard, while Sir Roy was cominr up last on the rails. Ho passed Royal Game, and when challenged Ark Royal was also beaten. Yoma and Battlement both came with late runs, but Sir Roy, after wearing Ark Royal down, stalled off tho challenges. Sir Roy was first, Battlement second, Y'orna third, and Vaward fourth, Time, 2mia 8 l-osec.
