Here, if anywhere, is the setting for a romance—the love of a Chinese girl for an English hoy. Chaney, the genius of the screen, makes this gripping tale of Eastern lives and loves memorable and boundlessly' entertaining. His characterisation of Mr Wu is intensely vivid and real, striking a now chord" in screen acting. Briefly', the story deals with Basil Gregory, a young Englishman, who wrongs tho daughter of a. powerful Chinese mandarin, Mr Wu. The latter kills his daughter, in accordance with the ancient laws, and then captures Gregory. Luring tho boy’s mother and sister to his. home, ho prepares a terrible vengeance. The tables arc turned, however, when Mrs Gregory kills tho Chinaman and rescues her son and daughter. The cast includes Louise Dresser, Gertrude Olmsted, Holmes Herbert, Claude King, and others of note.
