Tho death is announced of the archreologist, Dr David George Hogarth.—A. and X.Z. and ‘Sun’ Cable. [David George Hogarth, CM.G., M.A., D.Lift., was born in 1802. Me was keeper of the Ashmoleau Museum since 1909, and was president of the "Royal Geographical Society in 192.1. Ho carried out explorations in Asia Minor, ISS7-94, and excavations in Crete, Egypt, Ephesus, Assuit, and Carchemish. Ho was director of the British school at Athens from 1897 to 1900. : During the Great War ho was engaged on special service as an officer of the R.N.V.R. Tho death has occurred of Dr David Hogarth, keeper of tho _ Ashmoleum Museum, Oxford, and president of the Hellenic Society. He was well known for his extensive exploration in Asia Minor and excavations in Greece and Egypt. During the war ho was for a time director of the Arab Bureau, and had a thorough inside knowledge of the Arab revolt against Turkish dominance, which had a great effect on hostilities in the Middle East.
