OCTAGON
An hilarious tale of the postal service is told in ‘Special Delivery,’ an Eddie Cantor comedy, which comes to the Octagon Theatre to-night. In this picture Cantor has tho role of a postal clerk, who ; because he is unfitted for the work, is transferred to the delivery sections. He falls in love with Madge, n waitress in a luncheon room, and is rivalled for her affections by his friends, Harrigan and Flannigan and Harold Jones. The latter offers tho girl a position in his office, and Eddie is very castdown till he finds the office. At a ball Jones proposes to Madge and offers to take her to South Africa. The following day he sees her going on board the steamer wearing a coat that ho previously delivered to a Mrs Jones. Eddie suspects Jones of being a mail thief, and goes to his apartments, when Jones realises tho carrier knows too much. He escapes, and Eddie gives chase and finally captures him with the aid of Hannigan and Flannigan. It is proved-that Jones is a crook, and Madge, realising her error, accepts Eddie. '
On the same programme are Delroy
and Delaney, a pair of rhythmical dancers, while the Octagon Orchestral, under Mr L. D. Austin, renders a selection from ‘ The Gondoliers ’ (Sullivan) as an overture.
