TO-DAY'S GASH PRICES

The guide gives the prices in the city retail shops.

Eggs are selling at Is 8d and Is 9d dozen, and the wholesale price of farmers’ butter is 1s and Is Id.

Meat prices arc unaltered, being:—Lamb, 9s quarter; mutton, 2d to 7|d lb; beef, 3d to lid lb.

Fish prices are:—Groper, 10d lb; kingfish, 10d lb; ling, 3lb for 1s; red cod, 31b for 1s; soles, from 4d each; flounders, from 4d each; whitebait, Is 3d glass; smoked blue cod, 1s 3d lb; smoked barracouta, from Is each.

Prices for fruit are steady:—Pears (Winter Coles), 8d lb; bananas, £ for Is; Delicious apples, 6d and 8d lb; small dessert apples, 3d ib; mandarins, 12 for Is; Australian Navel oranges, 6,5, 4, and 3 for Is; California lemons, 3d each; Australian lemons, 5 for Is; Valencia oranges, 3 and 4 for Is.

Vegetable prices are unchanged :—Potatoes, Ss 6d a cwt, or 101 b for Is; carrots, 101 b for Is; parsnips, Sib for Is; cabbages, 44 and 6d each; cauliflower, 3d, J, 6d, and 8d each; swede turnips, 141 b for 1s; lettuce, 6d to 8d each; hothouse cucumbers, 2s; rhubarb, 3d Ib; asparagus, Is bunch; Island tomatoes, 1s 8d ib; new potatoes, 6d Ib.
