RUGBY OTAGO v. TARANAKI. Tho representative match between Otago and Taranaki will be played at Carisbrook at 3 o’clock. This_ is expected to provide a good exhibition of tho game. The visitors aro a good allround team, and play a bright, open game. Tho Otago team should also give a good account of itself. If the ground is in lit condition the curtainraiser between the High School and Zingari A should also provide a good game. The box plan is open at Tho Bristol, and will close at 11.30 tomorrow. Ollicial guides will he on sale at the ground, Otago Sports Depot, and S. Jacobs’s. Afternoon tea and beef tea will he obtainable at tho cricket pavilion from 3 o’clock. RUGBY LEAGUE Athletic having won the Senior Cup, tlie knock-out competition will start at 3 on the Caledonian. City will meet Christian Brothers. When these two teams met last month, the Brothers won by a narrow margin after a groat game. There is no doubt that tho match will be fast and exciting. Athletic will meet Kaikorai on the Oval at 3, where a good exhibition of the code should lie witnessed. in the junml- - Athletic will meet Pac'lio on the Caledonian at 1.15 as a curtainraiser to flic senior match, and Christian Brothers are drawn against City on the Muntceiilo Ground at 3. SOCCER For a number ol years (be relative merits of home, and colonial players have been freely discussed -by all followers of Soccer. It is realised that New Zealand players have developed a, distinctive type of game, and whether this method of play would prove effective against learns playing the orthodox game as it is played in England and Scotland has been questioned. With a view lo deciding tho merits ol each type of game, a team composed entirely of Homo players has been chosen to play a, team of New Zealanders. The match is limed lo rmuinencc at 3 o’clock at Culling Park. A close and interesting game is expected, and spectators will have an opportunity of gauging tho mcrlls nl each type of game. To enable players lo witness the match all first grade games have been postponed.
