TO-DAY'S CASH PRICES The guide gives the prices in the retail city shops. Eggs have come down to Is 8d a dozen. Rice, sago, and tapioca arc selling at 3d a lb. Butter is priced at 1s 8d lb, and Is 6d for whey butter. Bacon is 1s 3d, and prices for cheese arc 1s for mild and Is 3a for tasty. Honey is selling at 5d for Jib pats, lOd to 1s for 11b pottles, and 6s 6d for 10lb tins. Wax candles are 9=d and 9d for Electric, Prices for meat are the same as those of last week, the retail prices ranging from 2Jd to 7Jd. Beef ranges from 3d to lid for best steak. Fish is still scarce, the prices being :_Groper, 10d lb; red cod, 3lb for Is; kingfish, lOd lb; soles, from 6d each; flounders, from 6d each; ling, 6d lb; blue cod, Is lb; smoked blue cod, 1s 3d lb; smoked reel cod, from 6d each; smoked barracouta, from Is each; oysters, Is 6d per pottle. Prices for fruit are: —Pears (Winter Coles), 6d lb; bananas, 10 for 1s; Delicious apples, 6ci and 8d lb; Jonathans, 4d and 6d lb; small dessert apples, 3d lb; passion fruit, 8 for Is; mandarins. 10 for Is; Australian Navel oranges, 6,5, 4, and 3 for Is; Poorman oranges, 6d lb; grape fruit, 6cl each; California lemons, 3d each. Vegetable prices are:—Potatoes, 7s 6d a cwt, or 121 b for Is; carrots, 101 b for 1s; parsnips, Blb for 1s; pumpkins, s!b for Is; cabbages, 6d and 8d each; cauliflower, 8d to Is 6d each; swede turnips, 141 b for 1s; jam melons, 3d lb; celery, 4d and 6d stick; lettuce, 3d and 4d each; artichokes, 4d lb; Brussel Sprouts, Bcl >b; hothouse cucumbers, 2s; hothouse tomatoes, 2s 3d lb; Rarotonga tomatoes, Is 6d lb.
