STILL-BORN BABY IN TANK. On Monday afternoon last the intake nine ol a septic tank at Lower IJntt became blocked (says a Wellington Association message). An invostigat ion by the engineer disclosed the tact (hat the blockage was caused by a. Icmalc baby, which the doctors declared to have been still-born. r l he magistrate, at an inquest held yesterday, found that the body was that of a, still-born child, born a, few days prior to August 15. and dial there was no evidence to.show bow the body came into Urn lank. KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR. Christina Donaldson, a middle-aged woman, employed at the _ Provincial Hotel, narrowly escaped serious injury while crossing Lower High street about 9 o'clock last evening. She was knocked down by a taxi driven by A( illiam Alexander M’Knight, and hotfoot caught in the radius rod. which had to be uncoupled before shq was freed. A scalp wound and injuries to her back and log necessitated her removal to the hospital.
