Mr C. A. Thompson, accountant of the Bank of New Zealand at, Dunedin, has resumed duty after sick leave. Mr J. J. Marlow left this morning for Sydney, where he will join his son, the Rev. 'Father S. Marlow, during a month’s stay in Australia. At last night’s meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Air D. Duncan, who had taken a prominent part in the field of sport, and who had been the handicapper to the old Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club. Mr T. J. M’Donald, Mrs M’Donald, and Master M'Donald were passengers bv thp first express for the north this morning. After spending an eight months’ holiday in Dunedin they are returning to the Malay States via Sydnev. New visitors to the Excelsior Hotel include Mr J. Belcher (Auckland), Mr G. J. Hay (Wellington), Airs Ahvyn, Miss Alwyn, and Air C. H. Fletcher (Christchurch), Air AV. A. Anderson (Omnrama), and Air J. Thompson (Lawrence). A London cable states that Viscount Jeilicoo has returned to London horn Geneva owing to the serious illness of his brother, the Rev. Frederick Jellicoe. ’aith blood poisoning in the log, which was amputated. A Sydney ‘ Sun ’ cable message from London states that Sir Campbell Stuart has been appointed the first chairman of the Pacific Cable Board under the new constitution.
