TEN WICKETS WIN

Durham’s Second Innings Collapse

Cunningham Strikes Form at Last

Takes Four Wickets for 25

Press Association—-By Telegraph—Copyright

LONDON, June 20. (Received June 21, at I], a.ra.) The two tail-end men Brooks (50) and Cook (57), who had made such a determined stand on Saturday, continued their sturdy defence to-day, and surprised the New Zealanders by their spirited play. Cook placed his strokes perfectly, though both the bowling and the fielding were most accurate and keen. The pair added 115 more in 110 minutes, making 195 for the ninth wicket, and very nearly succeeded in saving the follow-on. Cook passed the century, • and remained unbeaten. Durham, on going in again, began well, Nichol scoring 56 in breezy fashion in fifty minutes. At the tea adjournment only three wickets were down for 83, but on resuming there was an amazing collapse. Cunningham, who had not taken a wicket in the first innings, and had generally been a failure so far, was the principal destroying agent, with Henderson, who only had one over. He wound up the innings in short order. Neither was assisted by the wicket, and Cunningham bowled with real_ “ devil.” The attendance was about 500. Commenting on the story from New Zealand published hero that Dacro is likely to settle in England, the manager (Mr'Hay) says he understands that the Aucklander has not made any engagement of the sort.
