(Received June 15, at 10.40 a.m.) When tho City Council was discussing recommendations from the Finance Committee that a motor car to bo bought for the use of the Lord Mayor, and a typewriter should be of British manufacture, Alderman Shannon, who said that ho was speaking for the Labor Caucus, moved an amendment removing the restriction to British makes. He said that tho committee’s recommendation gave undue preference to British manufacturers. He added that there were cheaper cars to bo had than those of British make. Tho amendment .was carried.
