News from Kansas City states that tornadoes and blizzards in Kansas, lowa, Wyoming, and Montana during the week-end resulted in at least twelve deaths. The damage amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Most of the victims were in the vicinity of Hutchinson, in Kansas. The hurricane was accompanied by cloudbursts, which demolished 800 residences and raised the already swollen streams. Snowstorms crippled communication in some portions of the western districts. ■ FIFTY PEOPLE KILLED TEXAS SUFFERS BADLY, NEW YORK, May 9. (Received May 10, at 10 a.m.) A message from Dallas, Texas, states that at least fifty people were killed and more than 100 injured by tornadoes in the Middle West and South West States. The damage to property is estimated at more than 2,000,000 dollars. Texas %vas the hardest nit, with twenty-five people killed and fifty injured. WIDE AREA AFFECTED. NEW YORK, May 9. (Received May 10, at 10.30 a.m.) Cyclonic winds and rain storms caused damage in sections of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, lowa, and Colorado. Fifty lives were lost, and the injured numbered 300. The winds demolished farmhouses, and uprooted trees. The damage to property is at present estimated at 1,400,000 dollars. The Red Cross, which is already burdened with flood relief work, is being called upon to render assistance to the victims.
