KAITANGATA COAL COMPANY
SHARES ALLOTTED MIKE OPERATIONS START ON TUESDAY According to the prospectus of the Kaitangata Coal Company the directors could not proceed toj allotment until 40,000 shares were taken. By yesterday afternoon well ovtj' that number had been subscribed, and in the evening the allotment was made. ; Kaitangata evidently has faith in the company, for the shares taken up in that district number 10,100, and Balclutha owns 2,300. The management is to start on Tuesday of next week to open up the mine, and it is hoped to have the works iu full swing once more in the course of a few days.
