TO-DAY'S PRICES The shoppers’ > guide gives the prices ruling for goods over the counter in the city shops : Eggs are up to 2s 6d a dozen. Butter is selling at Is 7d (factory) and Is 2d and Is 4d for cooking butter. ' Prices for fish are:—Ling, 6d lb; groper, lOd lb; kingfish, 10d lb; trevalii, 6d and 9d each; soles, from 3d each up; flounders, 4d each up; mackerel, 1s each; smoked blue cod, Is 3d lb; smoked red cod, 6d to Is lb; smoked barracouta, Is each; smoked ling, 8d lb. Meat prices arc:—Mutton, 2|d to 7d lb; beef, 2fdto7d lb;corned beef, 4£d to 8d lb; lamb, 7d to 9d lb; pork, Is lb; mince, 4d lb. Fruit prices are: —Bananas, 8 for Is; peaches, 8d and Is; cooking peaches, 6d lb; Cox apples (new season’s), 6d lb, 31b Is 3d; pears (dessert), 6d; grape fruit, 6d each; Sunkist oranges, 3 for 1s 3d; Tahiti oranges, 4 a Is; hothouse grapes, 2s lb; plums—cooking 4d, dessert 6d.
