HUMPHREY BISHOP COMPANY

CHANGE OF PROGRAMME Bright and attractive as the first programme submitted by the Humphrey Bishop Comedy Company was, the second programme, which was inaugurated last night, is still better. The exceptional vocal strength of the combination was further exemplified in solos and concerted numbers, in which Miss Thelma Trott, Mr Walter Kingsley, Mr John Montfort, and others were prominent. Amongst the many pleasing items* were the duet ‘ At the End of the Sunset Trail,’ by Miss Trott and Mr Montfort: the songs ‘ Lolita ’ and ‘ When the Sergeant-major’s on Parade,’ by Mr Kingsley the solo ‘ Dreaming of Castles in tne Air,’ by Miss Trott; and the songs ‘ Killarney and You ’ and ‘l’d Climb the Highest Mountain,’ by Mr. Montfort, assisted by Miss Marie Landon. Another good offering was that of Miss Evadne Royle and Air Mark Leslie, who collaborated in ‘Poor Papa,’ ‘Too Many Parties,’ and ‘ That Certain Party.’ Mr Fred Webber was versatile, as usual, and all the rest of the company helped vocally. In real good comedy this present programme is much stronger than the opening one, “Soratcher” Ross, already an established favorite, added considerably to his laurels, and was particularly funny in & musical sketch with Air Webber, in which the comedian used “ effects ” with devastating results. Air Charles Albert put on a fresh “dame” number introducing \ Airs 'Brady,’ and also scoredheavily in a song of a doleful husband. The musical comedietta ‘ Arcadee ’ gave both comedians scope for laughter making, and they did not neglect tho opportunity. * The dancing, _ too, was excellent, specialties being introduced with aplem did results. A pretty number was the Dutch song and dance ‘ Oh, Katarina ’ by Mark Leslie and Elaine Alaye. Dorothy tßyder and Alan Kitson also provided some dainty work. It was announced that the season would positively close on Saturday night and that there would be a matinee on Saturday afternoon, so that tho public have but three more opportunities of enjoying what is really a good show.
