POLICE CALLED IN
RIVAL UNEMPLOYED [Peb United Pukss Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, March 31., The police were called urgently this morning to restore order at a “ few” between rival unemployed factions in the city, whidh occurred at a meeting held in Victoria square. Before they arrived the element led by H. Dunkley and J. Luoni had made their departure, leaving E. L. Hills in charge of those who remained. Gesticulating wildly, and hurling insults at Hills, Messrs Dunkley and Luoni made the proceedings very lively for about quarter of an hour. After their departure ,accompanied by about nine others, Hills restored order, and addressed the crowd on the events of the past few days in connection with the unemployment problem in in the city [Mr E. L. Hills is the leader of that section of the unemployed which recently expelled another group. I would not like you to think that the majority of the unemployed can be judged by these men,” said Hills at a deputation to the Premier yesterday.]
