(Received March 31, at 11.10 a.m.) At Ehrenfeld, Pennyslvania, a terrific explosion in a mine belonging to the Pennsylvania Coal and Coke Company entombed 350 men. The mine officials are doubtful about the chances of any to escape, except a few who have already come out through the air shaft from a separate section to where the majority w r ere working. These men were ignorant of the fate of their comrades. It is feared that 250 men were in the immediate area of the explosion, which wrecked the mine offices and was heard for miles around. Gas and mine-dust is believed to have caused the upheaval. The officials are unable to tell the extent of the explosion, but houses 100yds away were knocked off their supporting props. Rescue crews, ambulances, doctors, and nurses have rushed to the scene.
