NEW YORK, March 27. The Washington correspondent of the ‘New York. Times’. states that the United States lias narrowly escaped a serious crisis in its relations with Mexico.

Jt is understood that forged documents bearing tho signature of Mr F. B. Kellog and other officials of tho American Government, ostensibly containing instructions from tho State Department to the American Ambassador m Mexico, and purporting to show that the United States planned war on Mexico, or sought to foment revolution in that country, fell into the hands of President Calles. A prominent American journalist visiting President Calles was shown these documents ns convincing evidence of America’s bad faith in her relations with Mexico.

The journalist suggested that President Calles should inform President Coolidge, and an exchange of Notes disclosed tho documents to he spurious. It is not certain whether tho perpetrator’s identity is known. •

CLASH WITH REBELS

MANY CASUALTIES

MEXICO CITY, March 28. (Received March 29, at 9.20 a.m.) Sixty rebels were killed and 100 captured, while thirty-four Federal soldiers were killed, in an encounter in the State of Jalisco last week, according to a statement issued to-day.
