Kovno is quiet. KONIGSBERG, December 18. A local newspaper sports that a battle is impending at Kovno between General Wilsauki’s troops and the regiments that are loyal to the overthrown Government. Colonel Glovatsky, a Fascist, . has been made Governor of Kovno. Another report states that all power is in the hands of Major Plekhavichus. an ex-Tsarist, and the self-proclaimed dictator. A portion of the army is preparing to attack. KOVNO, December 18. It is officially denied that the Government is preparing to attack Vilna. It is expected that the President will resign. His most likely successor is General Smetona. Many arrests of Communists have been made throughout the country. The Lithuanian wireless station lias resumed broadcasting. POLAND ALARMED. WARSAW, December 17. There is uneasiness in Poland following the Lithuanian coup, due to fear of General Smetona’s pro-German tendencies. Poland has reinforced her troops on the eastern frontier. PRESIDENT RESIGNS. KOVNO, December 19. (Received December 20, at 11 a.m.) M. Grintius, the Lithuanian President, has resigned.
