LATE COMMERCIAL
- ’ GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Messrs Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., report:— Oats.—Business is quite at a standstill. Merchants are endeavoring to quit their present stock before the new season’s crop is available, but very few sales have been recorded. Nominal values are as follow;—A grade, 2s lOd; B grade, 2s 7d (sacks extra, on truck, country stations). Wheat.—Apart from inquiries for fowl wheat, there is little to report. Good whole fowl wheat is scarce, and is worth ns much now as milling—viz., 7s 6d per bushel (ex store, Dunedin, sacks extra). Chaff.—Tho local demand embraces the present market, and prime quality is the only grade that receives any attention. Prime is worth £5 5s to £5 10s per ton (sacks extra, ex truck, Dunedin). Other grades are practically unsaleable.
Potatoes.—Tho market for old potatoes is about finished. An odd inquiry is still received, but tho quantity required is generally a few bags only. Local now potatoes are coming in in larger quantities, and the quality is quite good. Wo quote; Old potatoes, freshly picked (white tables), £5 to £6 per ton (ex truck, sacks in).
