TO-DAY'S CASH PRICES The guide gives the prices for cash over the counter sales. Butter prices have been reduced Id, and are now:—Best, 1s 8d; bulk, 1s 6d; cooking, Is sd. Ego 3 are selling at Is 7d and 1s Bd. Lamb is a trifle dearer in the butcher’s shops. It is a luxury, costing 12s a quarter. Other prices remain steady Beef, roasts, 4d to 7d ; steak, 4d to lOd ; corned, 4d to 8d ; mince, sd; mutton sides, Ed; forequarters, 4d to 5d 5 legs, 7d to 9d. Fish is a little more plentiful this week, the prices being:— Groper, lOd per lb; red cod, 8d; blue cod, 1s; terakihi, lOd; trevalli, 8 cl; soles, lOd; small soles, 4 for Is; flounders, lOd; smoked blue cod, 1s 3d; whitebait, 8d per glass; crayfish, 2d to 6d each. Vegetable prices are:—Cauliflowers, 3d to 6d, large size Bti ' > 10d; hot-house cucumbers, 1s 3d Is 9d; lettuce, outside-grown, to 6d ; hothouse large, c , spinach, 3d; spring cabbages, 4.i to 6d; asparagus, 2s per bunch; Peninsula potatoes, 2s per lb; green peas, 3s 6d per lb; rhubarb, 4d per bunch. Fruit prices are:—Navel oranges, 3 for Is, 3 for Is 3d; New Zea-land-grown lemons, 8 for Is; Raratongan tomatoes, Is 6d per lb; bananas, 8 and 10 for Is; Queensland pines, Is 6d to 2s; mandarins, 10 for Is; Californian grapes, 1s 6d per lb; Californian lemons, 4 for 1s; cooking pears, 4d per lb. Apple prices are unaltered.
