DELHI, October 7. Widespread interest has been excited by the discovery at Sind of an Omar Khayyam manuscript. (Translations have been made by a prominent Indian Civil servant, aided by a Sind Persian scholar, who are following closely Edward Fitzgerald’s admirable translations of the earlier known works. Twelve quatrains which have thus far been translated are typical of those in the Rubaiyat, as may bo gauged by tho following lines:— See where the grub of passion dies, The caterpillar heaves its reasoning sighs, Then cedes tho torch to butterflies That view the world in splendor from experienced eyes.
