CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
MEETING OF SOCIETY’S COMMITTEE.
Present at yesterday’s monthly meeting of tho committee of the Otago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were Sir George Fenwick (chairman), Airs and Miss Portoous, Messrs Crosby Morris, W. F. Sligo, Brown, Leith, Elliott, Sutherland, Sheppard, and P. Johnson. ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK. Mr J. A. Forbes, Oamaru, wrote asking to lie informed how Animal Welfare Week went, in Dunedin. Ho stated that he had heard Sir George Fenwick’s address clearly by wireless, and ho felt sure that this year's welfare week had been more generally observed than on any previous year. He asked for copies of tho chairman's address to send to the Loudon and American Humane Societies.—Tho Chairman reported having received word from Auckland that every word of his address had been heard, and that a similar notification had come from Christchurch. —The _ committee resolved to forward a remittance of £5 and copies of Sir George’s address if they were available. CAUTIONED.
Inspector Craig’s report showed that he had cautioned three persons for driving horses with opert sores, and one for driving a lame horsc.~Rcccived. SUGGESTED NEW SOCIETY.
The possible formation of a society by Oamarn people was the subject of some discussion. The general opinions were that there was no need for a society at Oamaru, that it might ho harmful to the Otago Society, and that someone should visit _ Oamaru and interview those- who might he connected with tho proposal. .
