LOST £SO
LEGISLATORS’ SALARIES
[From Our Parliamentary Reporter]
WELLINGTON, August 3. In common with the Public Service employees, members of both branches of the Legislature suffered a reduction in salary on the operation of the Public Service Expenditure Adjustment Act. In the case of the House of Representatives, the salary, which was formerly £SOO, has dropped to £450, and there has been an organised movement among members to induce the Government to reinstate the lost £SO. Probably the proposal will be coupled with the suggestion that some portion of the £SO should be to a pension fund for ex-members of long service.
