GLAMORGAN . MATCH DRAWN HOME TEAM FAILS WITH THE BAT MAILEY AND GRIMMETT BOWL WELL Press Assoc'iation—By Telegraph— Copyright. LONDON, August 2. (Deceived August 3, at 11 a.m.) The match was continued in gloriously hot weather, and on a wicket that was wearing somewhat. The attendance was 20,000. Mailey and Grimmett had the batsmen inconstant difficulties, and every run had to bo fought for. The fielding was smart. Turnbull timed the breaks well, but eventually misjudged a ball from Grimmett- and returned an easy catch. The five remaining Glamorgan wickets fell for an additional 19 runs. When the Australians went in Ryder was lucky not to be put in Mercer’s second over Then he and Ponsford hit out freely, though Ryan, who obtained a big turn from the leg side, worried the batsmen.-The Ryan-Sullivan combination proved too much for the early strikers, and the score was 132 for five wickets when Bardsley and Woodfull became associated. They soon settled down, and carried the total to 200, when Bardsley declared. Ryan and Davies kept an excellent length, and gave few opportunities to score. They were splendidly assisted by the field. , Glamorgan opened their second strike disastrously, four wickets going for 19 runs. Then Walters and Davies stopped the rot, driving forcefully till time was called Scores; — AUSTRALIA. First innings 233 Second Innings. RYBEH AND HiS GAPTAIH LONDON, August 2. (Received August 3, at 11 a.m.) There has- been some comment with referencec to Ryder, who on Saturday bowled one over and was taken off, it is believed, in consequence of his moving the field without consultation with his captain. To-day he did not attempt to field a drive from Grimmett. After consultation between the latter and Bardsley Ryder was moved to another portion of the field.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
