BOARDING HOUSE GUTTED

OCCUPANTS ESCAPE IH NIGHT ATTIRE [Pm United Press Association.) MARION, June 14. A fire early yesterday morning gutted the Trocadero baording-house, an old two-storied wooden building at Marten Junction. The seventeen occupants escaped in their night, attire. Patrick Fogarty, aged thirty, a railway employee, was severely burned about the legs; and W. J. Quinn, aged forty-two, a laborer, received internal injuries through falling to the ground from the top story. Both are progressing satisfactorily. The glare of the flames lit the country for miles around. Nothing was saved. The adjoining residence was saved, though badly damaged by water. The boarding-house was owned by Mrs Wunsch, of’Palmerston North. The insurances are unavailable. The damage is estimated at £3,000.
