AUSTRALIAN COAL STRIKE

The Coal Conference'adjourned without reaching finality. Mr Gibson, secretary of the Federated Engine Drivers and Firemen’s Association, and the association as an organisation have been summoned to appear before the Federal Arbitration Court on June 21 to show cause why they should not bo prosecuted for inciting members of the association to strike. RAILWAYS SHORT OF FUEL. SYDNEY, Juno 10, (Received Juno 10, at 10.35 a.m.) As the result of the coal strike, the supplies of coal for the railways are running short. Tho Railway Commissioners have issued an ultimatum to all mine-owners, whose pits are not affected by tho strike, that from to-day tho Commissioners reserve the right to commandeer 60 per cent. of_ all coal hauled in their tracks. It is understood that the coal will be paid for at tho existing port rates.
