PAINTING TRADE

A DOfftSiSSH DISPUTE [Per United Press Association.] WELLLINGTON, Juno 9. The Conciliation Council is sitting today to hear the dispute between the employers and the employees in the painting and decorating trade throughout New Zealand. No alteration was sought in the weekly hours, but the men asked that provision bo made for a worker to have five minutes before ceasing for the purpose of washing. Mr Prime (the employers’ agent) said the employers expected service for the time the men were paid. They could not see that there would be any hardship in the men washing in their own time. Mr Cornwell said the concession was made in other parts of the world. Mr Campbell said New Zealand was the only country where he had found it did not apply. The clause was referred to the court.
