Sir James Parr, who was tendered an official farewell at ,Wanganui on Saturday, paid a compliment to the Press of Ne'w Zealand. He said he had had a good innings from the newspapers. Ho publicly thanked the Press for its cordial expression of goodwill.

A meeting of those interested in the formation of an ex-pupils and teachers’ association was held in the Kaikorai School on Saturday night. Possibly owing to the Exhibition the attendance was nob large. Mr W. Sinclair was elected chairman. A resolution was carried approving the formation of such an association, and a committee of five was appointed to draw up rules and submit to another meeting to be called at a later date. The question of suitably recognising Mr Kelk’s services was also enthusiastically discussed, ami a committee consisting of Messrs Armit, Clyde, Sinclair, and Buchler was appointed to circularise the ex-pupils and parents, divide up the districts to be canvassed, and call another meeting inter to appoint canvassers for the- districts and fix the date for a presentation. There was a very large assemblage of the Dunedin citizens, and also of vistiors, at the open-air concert given by the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band in the Botanic Gardens yesterday afternoon. The playing was very much appreciated, and the contest selection, which won the hand the championship of New Zealand, had to be repealed twice by request. The collection in aid of the hand funds was very satisfactory.
