LAKE WANAKA LAUNCH SERVICE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,: —On the recommendation of the Government Tourist Department 1 recently arranged a tour with some friends through Central Otago to Pembroke, the chief attraction being the visiting of P,igeon Island, with the wonderful lake within a lake, at Lake Wanaka. During this tour we found courtesy and anxiety to oblige’right up till time of taking the motor launch trip on Lake Wanaka. The launch was about to leave on ouv arrival, but the obliging host of the Wanaka Hotel kindly suggested the delaying of tho boat for a few moments to allow us to go; but the launch proprietor would not wait, a moment, with the result that he pulled out. leaving us standing on the wharf, am! he refused to put hack for ns. Eueh treatment has tho effect of retarding progress, and creates an impression in the minds of tourists which is not. healthy for tho district. If this man cannot meet, the demands of tourists, L should think it would be a good opening for someone who would.— I am, etc.. Tourist. March 12.
