DENGUE FEVER

Tiie recent prevalence of dengue fever has caused some consternation, and lias raised the question of its spreading to other parts of the Commonwealth and elsewhere. Medical opinion mostly negatives the tears of the disease taking hold outside the tropical and sub-tropical areas. The typo of mosquito responsible ior dengue fever has not been located smith of Newcastle, though the other more common types have been exceptionally prevalent and troublesome during Ibe present ) ear. and are almsot a scourge in many districts. At the ladies’ swimming championships on Saturday a Queensland representative, who recently suffered from dengue fever, collapsed after swimming 150yds, and had to retire.
