Geological Survey, New South Wales, and was loader of an expedition to the Ellice Islands in 1897. He was scientific officer with the Shackleton Antarctic Expedition, 19001909, and led a, party which reached the South Magnetic Role on January 1(1, 1909. He was geologist to the British Armies on the western front from 191 S to 1919.]
