The Paris correspondent of the * Daily Express ’ states that the production of tho film ‘ Madame Sans Gene ’ occasioned a remarkable incident suggesting the trend of public opinion in France. When the figure of the “ Little Corporal ” vras thrown on the screen the entire audience was electrified and rose as one man, cheering and shouting “ Dictator! Dictator! Long live Napoleon!” The ovation lasted for several minutes. Publicists, however, though they admit that a dictator would have no difficulty in seizing power, state that a strong man has not yet appeared. M. Herriot, at a meeting of the Radical Socialists to-day, quoted striking statistics showing tax-dodging. He stated that whereas 570,000 persons owned private motor cars, only 257,717 in France paid income tax on incomes above 30,000 francs. M.
