WEALTHY ENGLISHMAN’S DEATH
SUICIDE INDICATED. Pre*j AModitiow—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON. December 17. Mr Mellor, a wealthy ex-Lancastrian who was formerly iu the consular service, died at Cannes. '[’he ‘ Daily Chronicle’s ’ Nice correspondent states that Mr Mellor is believed to have attempted to open a vein in his wrist, and finally plunged a knife in his breast. _ He was fifty-eight years of age. He inherited a large fortune from his father, who was a Bolton cotton spinner. Mr Mellor acquired a handsome villa at Cannes in 1919.—viand N.Z. Cable.
