[Sf’F.CIAT. TO TDK ‘STAR.'] (' 111 H STCHU RCH, Oc t.obcr 6. Dr Campbell, whoso death occurred in the Christchurch Hospital, was a son of Air and Airs J. B. Campbell, who are now residing at Christchurch. The late Dr Campbell received his early education at. the Wnimato and Stratford High Schools, and won a national scholarship at Stratford, after which he went to Dunedin and took up his studies at the Otago University. He left in 1920, ami then went into the Christchurch Hospital ns house surgeon, where ho remained for over two years. Alter leaving this institution he occupied several positions as locum tenons before taking up a practice at Waikari, which ho held at the time of his death. Dr Campbell married Aliss Helen Lindsay, of Palmerston, Otago, and leaves a widow and one little boy. Dr Campbell was a noted footballer and the ideal typo of forward, being a big man and powerfully built. While in Dunedin he played for Otago University. He represented Otago, and was selected to play for tho South Island against the North Island in 1919. During his stay at Christchurch Hospital Dr Campbell played for Canterbury College, and won his Canterbury cap in 1921, playing against South Canterbury and Otago. In 1922 he played against Hawke’s Bay. .Dr Campbell was twentyeight years of age.
