MONTHLY MEETING The Mayor of Green Islam! (Mr W. T. Smellie), Crs T. Tomkins. T. M‘Allan, H. Christie, J. G. Lindsay, C. Crimp, R. Tait, R. Knight, P. Chalmers, ami R. 0. Smellie met in council last night. SANITARY LOAN GRANTED. The Chairman of the Finance Com* mitteo (Cr Tomkins) reported that advice had been received from the State Advances Department that the council’s application for a sanitary loan of £1,500 for the purpose of establishing an improved system in the borough had been granted. The debentures would be forwarded as soon as they had been printed. The rate of interest was fixed at 51 per cent., and the loan was repayable in thirty-six and a-half years. A rate of 1 5-10 d had been struck to cover interest and sinking fund charges. Cr Tomkins expressed satisfaction that the loan had been granted. POSTAL SERVICES. Owing to the requests from the council to the Chief Postmaster at Wellington for increased postal facilities not resulting in any improvement, the meeting agreed to Cr M‘Alum's motion —“That the town clerk write to Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P., regarding the matter.” Crs’ Christie and Tomkins supported the motion, the latter saying that some people at Abbonsford did not get a delivery until -L.’JO p.m. GENERAL. It was decided to approach the Government asking for a grant towards the maintenance of the Green Island domains, to have the necessary drainage work carried out at the cemetery, and spend £lO on Shannon street, and to have Reid street to Joins street covered with fine metal am! blinded; that £lO be spent on Queen street repairs; and that the question of making a donation to the Otago Court of the N.Z. and S.S. Exhibition stand over for one month. Letters from flic following; were referred to the engineer for report:— Mr W. C. Panics, concerning Dali street; Joshua Davis, regard!iig'Shumla street. FINANCIAL MATTERS.

Accounts amounting to £-106 14s 6d and the account from the Dunedin Citv Corporation for £6l P’s Id, as the* borough’s proportion of the cost of licensing expenses for the years 1922-25, U»2.‘l-24, and 1924-25, were passed for payment.
